Autostarting the Android / Chromecast App

DisplayHub Chromecast/Android app includes functionality that allows the app to autostart upon reboot. This is especially useful for situations where the player is powered down overnight and needs to resume seamlessly the next morning.

Steps to Enable Autostart:

1. Ensure the App is Open Before Powering Off

Before turning off your Chromecast or Android device, make sure that the DisplayHub app is actively open. This ensures the device can recognize it as the app to relaunch during reboot.

2. Enable “Display Over Other Apps”

To allow the DisplayHub app to autostart, you must enable the “Display over other apps” setting specifically for DisplayHub. This grants the app permission to appear on top after the device reboots or being turned off.

Step 1 - Navigate to your device’s settings:
Step 2 - All Settings > Apps > Locate and select the DisplayHub app > Permissions > Special App Access > Display Over Other App
Step 3 - Locate and select the DisplayHub app.
Step 4 - Toggle the “Display Over Other Apps” setting to ON.

Notes:

  • Ensure that only the DisplayHub app has this permission enabled to avoid conflicts with other apps.

  • This feature is critical for a seamless experience, particularly in environments like digital signage where power interruptions are often.

By following these steps, DisplayHub will autostart on your device whenever your device powers back on.
